2023-24 VRC Season: Over Under

Over Under

VEX Robotics Competition Over Under is played on a 12’x12’ square field configured as seen below. Two (2) Alliances—one (1) “red” and one (1) “blue”—composed of two (2) Teams each, compete in Matches consisting of a fifteen (15) second Autonomous Period followed by a one minute and forty-five second (1:45) Driver Controlled Period.

The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by Scoring Triballs in Goalsand by Elevating at the end of the Match.

State Championships

The Hawaii Regional Championship for VEX Robotics is an exciting event that showcases the best and brightest student robotics teams from across the state. Teams qualify for this championship by competing in local tournaments and winning a qualifying award, such as the excellence, design, or team work champion. Additionally, teams could qualify through their individual skills score rankings, with only the top-ranking teams from across the state being invited to participate. This event is a high-stakes competition, with winning teams moving on to the next level of competition, the VEX Worlds, which will take place in Dallas, Texas. The Hawaii Regional Championship offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in the field of robotics and to gain valuable experience working in a team-oriented, competitive environment.

Excellence Award

The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics Competition. The recipient of this award is a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high quality VEX robotics program. This team excels in many areas and is a shining example of dedication, devotion, hard work and teamwork. This team is committed to quality in everything that they do and is a strong contender in numerous award categories. This team or program deserves to be recognized for building a quality robotics program.

Design Award

The Design Award is presented to a team that demonstrates the ability to implement the most effective and efficient robot design process. Their Engineering Notebook and discussion with the Judges demonstrate the team’s ability to produce a quality robot with minimal adult assistance. This team’s Engineering Notebook is a clear, complete, and organized documentation of the robot design process that demonstrates effective management of skills, time, and material resources. Students on this team were able to explain how they developed an effective game strategy and robot design.
